Changelog

Every release, newest first. These are the same notes the app shows you before it installs an update.

Version 1.0.4

 ·  Build 352

Changed

  • Prices show in your own currency instead of always in dollars.
  • Checking the price now sends your country, and nothing else about you.

Version 1.0.3

 ·  Build 341

Added

  • A setting for which way you swipe: up to open the switcher and down to close it (the new default), or sideways, where either direction does both.
  • The swipe is on out of the box now, and the last screen of the welcome tour has a switch for it.

Changed

  • A browser window and its tabs now take one place in the switcher instead of two, with the tab you are on at the front. The old behaviour is a setting.
  • The badge on a window from another desktop is now a small screen with the desktop's number inside it, and a window in full screen says so instead of showing a blank one.

Fixed

  • Summoning with a three or four finger trackpad swipe is now fixed.
  • The trackpad now clicks under your fingers as you scroll through the switcher, the way it already did when you moved the pointer over the windows.
  • Fix Firefox tabs not showing up correctly.
  • A card's picture is no longer stretched or squashed after you resize its window.
  • Windows and their tabs no longer disappear while a video is playing full screen, and picking one now takes you to it. While the video is up, that window shows how many tabs it has instead of listing them, because they cannot be switched to until you leave full screen.

Version 1.0.2

 ·  Build 311

Fixed

  • Fix the Panorama arrangement to show its two stories from seven windows up instead of thirteen.

Version 1.0.1

 ·  Build 306

Fixed

  • A window playing a video in fullscreen (Chrome especially) could show up squeezed into a corner of its card. Fullscreen windows now fill their card properly, in the live preview and in the picture the card keeps.
  • Chrome and Firefox no longer leave a phantom extra card behind while a video plays in fullscreen. Only the real window gets a card, and it is the one selected when you summon.
  • Freeing up this Mac's seat on the license page now actually takes effect in the app: it asks for the key again instead of quietly re-claiming the seat, and it says a seat was freed rather than claiming a refund.

Version 1.0.0

 ·  Build 293

Added

  • The first release. A hotkey brings up every open window as real 3D cards you can orbit with the trackpad or the mouse, in seven arrangements: Cover Arc, Carousel, Ring, Flip 3D, Panorama, Grid and 2D Row.
  • Tabs are switch targets, not just windows: the tabs of your browser, and of Finder, Terminal, Preview and Ghostty, each get their own card, and picking one takes you to that tab.
  • Windows of the same app, and a window's tabs, can be gathered into piles you flick through, so a crowded desktop stays readable.
  • Search by typing, with tabs found by their titles too.
  • Almost everything you can see has a setting, including the arrangement, the spacing, the blur and dim behind it, what the cards wear, and how the trackpad feels.
  • The app now tells you when a new version is out, and can install it for you.

The app checks for new versions by itself and shows you these notes before it installs one. Something here you would like explained? Write to support@betterwindowswitcher.com.
